PIB HEALTH CENTRE

The design of the Penticton Indian Band Health Centre draws inspiration from the sedimentary layers of the Okanagan hills and the traditional art of basket weaving. The band required privacy and separation, and this led to the linear form which wraps around the face of the hill on which the building is sited. The three departments occupying each wing of the building are woven together around the central corridor to create a cohesive community facility. The banded walls alternately fold in and peel away to define entrances and openings into the building.
